It’s not true. Sanwo-Olu is not aware of any dinner. - Aide
Lagos State Governor-elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, have distanced themselves from a proposed event tagged “Appreciation Dinner” which has been used to create anticipation for the swearing-in ceremony holding on May 29.
But one of the close aides of the incoming governor who craved anonymity has warned members of the public to be wary of dubious people who may want to use Sanwo-Olu’s name and his deputy’s to extort money from unsuspecting Nigerians through fraudulent means.
In the unapproved and proposed dinner, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been named as Father of the Day on the invitation.
The immediate past Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, were also announced as Special Guests of Honour.
While former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State, Dele Alake, has been penciled down as the Chief Host of the Day, amongst other notable figures in Lagos State.
The source, however, said the notable names listed on the invitation suggest that the event is a suspicious one.
He added that most of the A-list individuals mentioned have no inkling of the upcoming dinner for Sanwo-Olu, stressing that they have condemned those using their names for any possible despicable acts.
The source said: “I can tell you unequivocally that the respectable names on that dubious invitation have completely denied and condemned the intention of the faceless hands behind the tricky event for using their names apparently to hoodwink unsuspecting supporters, fans and friends of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat.
“And they have also admonished the public to be cautious of fake news and fraudulent people in this era of digital media,” the source stated.
