Queen Moremi The Musical: Ooni Of Ife, Audience Thrilled To A Breathtaking Performance

The musical dramatization of the life and times of the legendary Queen Moremi returned to the stage to mark the Easter celebration last Sunday.

The event, which held at the prestigious Terra Kulture Arena, Victoria Island, had eminent personalities in the society, royal fathers, captains of industries and several politicians in attendance.

Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who headlined the event drew distinguished audience of traditional and community leaders to the event in assurance of his passion in supporting women in leadership as exhibited by the exploits of Queen Moremi many years ago.

Leading the cast were Bimbo Manuel, who acted as Ooni Obawirin, Femi Branch, who played Olugbo, and Rotimi Adelegan, who starred as Oranmiyan.

The Cultural Ambassador of Queen Moremi, Ronke Ademiluyi, while thanking the viewers after the screening, expressed her satisfaction at the massive turnout of people who came to watch the stage play.

“Our first outing in December was a confirmation of the success of embracing the musical dramatization and it produced a positive response,” she said.

“Our target is to bring a serious historical story in an entertaining atmosphere that will appeal to and be of interest the general public

“After the success of today’s show, our plan is to take it to the United Kingdom and United States for the people in the Diaspora to see the cultural value in the Yoruba land.

Ademiluyi, a lawyer by profession, added that the project which was conceived by Ooni started in 2016 as a cultural and leadership pageant before dabbling into the full Moremi story.

In 2018, Ademiluyi in conjunction with Bolanle Austen-Peters commenced production of the musical drama and Mrs Olufunsho Amosu, the wife of the governor of Ogun State, became the executive producer.

“All these were to keep the memory of the iconic queen alive and also send a message on selfless leadership to Nigerians, ” she noted.

Oba Saheed Elegushi, wife of Ogun State Governor, Olufunso Amosun, Biola Okoya, Erelu of Lagos, Abiola Dosunmu, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Ekiti First Lady, Erelu Fayemi were among the top celebrities that honoured the stage.
