EFCC Arrests 32 Suspected Yahoo Boys In Ogun State

The officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Ibadan Zonal office, on Thursday, nabbed 32 Internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys.

The fraudsters, between ages of 15 and 39 years, were arrested in Liberty Estate, Laderin area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The security operatives, who acted on a tip-off, swooped down upon the unsuspecting gang in one of their notorious hideouts in the early hours of Thursday morning.

“Fourteen of them claimed to be undergraduates, while 18 others said they were self-employed in different vocations.

“The arrest was sequel to a petition detailing their fraudulent activities, including Internet fraud through which they obtained money from unsuspecting victims.

“Items recovered from them included six exotic cars, laptops, mobile phones, several documents containing false pretences and fetish objects,” the commission’s spokesperson, Tony Orilade, said.

He said that the suspects had started helping operatives with useful information.

“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he added.
