Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has debunked rumours milling around town that he is leaving the People’s Democratic Party for the ruling party, APC, which he decamped from shortly before the 2019 general elections.

Ortom, while reacting to the rumour on Friday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, noted that the rumour is the handiwork of mischief makers.

The governor said there was no basis for him to leave the party that gave him his second term ticket, adding that he is comfortable with PDP and has no plan to return to APC.

“I have no reason whatsoever to leave PDP, the Party that re-elected me, I am a card carrying member of this party, I also built the party, I can’t go back to APC, there is no basis for that, there is nothing wrong with me in the party.”

Ortom, in his address, also warned those peddling rumours on the social media that he has advised Kogi State governor to leave APC for Accord Party to desist from such rumours, saying he was not in any way in the mood to join issues with Kogi politics.

“I don’t know anything about Kogi Politics and I have never advised governor Bello on anything, I am trying to tackle my issues here in Benue and I am yet to even achieve the desired result, how can I jump from here to another state, this is really mischief and I have distanced myself from such reports.” Ortom stated.
