Silica gel is a white sachet found mostly inside new items like shoes and bags. It is often thrown away because most people don’t know its usefulness. Silica gel can be used for the following:

1. To dry your phone

If you mistakenly drop your phone in water, silica gel can help get it dried. All you need to do is dismantle the phone, remove the battery, memory card, and sim, and place everything in a container with some silica gel packs, leave for a whole day before you return to it.

2.  To keep your blade from rusting

It can be annoying when you keep a blade and a few days later you find out it has rusted. Place the pack of silica gel on your blade to prevent it from rusting.

3. To preserve pet food

When people shop for pet food, they buy in bulk, and if it is stored for a long time, it is likely to get spoilt. Silica gel can protect your pet food.

Remove the pet food from the carton and put it in a bowl, add some packs of silica gel to it and be rest assured your pet food will remain fresh.

4. To prevent jewelry from discolouring

Almost every woman has a piece of jewelry that is not pure gold. Silica gel can help you prevent such jewelry from rusting. Put some packs in your jewelry box and cover it.

5. To protect paper and photographs from damage

Drop a few packs of silica gel in a drawer along with your important sheets of paper and documents and be rest assured that they are safe.

It can prevent your trash from smelling. All you need to do is put the pack of silica gel underneath your trash bin and it will prevent it from smelling.
