The victim is also said to be the father of Fatima Musa, wife of Colonel Muhammed Abubakar, the Aide de Camp to the president.

According to an eyewitness, the bandits shot sporadically around 7pm on Wednesday evening to disperse the crowd before gaining access to the respected traditional ruler and whisking him away in a Peugeot 406 saloon car.

Umar was just arriving home from mosque to partake in an evening prayer before the incident happened.
