Clara Chime, the estranged wife of former Enugu State Governor, on Thursday, asked the High Court sitting in Apo in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to grant her custody of her 10-year-old-son.

The former Enugu State First Lady, in her response to the petition filed by her estranged hubby, Sullivan Chime, seeking the dissolution of their 11-year marriage asked the court to be given the custody of her child with N500,000 monthly maintenance. She added that she was ready to divorce her husband. .

Explaining further, Clara told the court that her son was not given the needed attention and she was only allowed to see him five hours a month under heavy security.

Clara also informed the court that she was depressed during her marriage because her husband only had marital relations with her only on their wedding night and never touched her so it led to her depressed condition.

She further denied any allegation of schizophrenia but said she only saw the CMD of a neural psychiatric facility because her husband brought him home.

Paul Onya, the counsel to the former governor, in his response, told the court that in the two previous petitions filed by Clara, she had demanded for the custody of her son.

He, however, requested to tender the petitions filed at Enugu High Court and a FCT Court as exhibits before the court.

But Clara’s counsel, Achibongu Iyeme, objected to the request of Paul Onya, stressing that the documents were not certified.

Justice Angela Otaluka in her judgement, ruled that documents were not admissible. She further adjourned the case till June 10 for continuation of hearing.
