As a woman, it is important to know the signs and symptoms of early pregnancy. These symptoms will help you prepare and plan yourself ahead. Early symptoms of pregnancy include:
1. Tenderness of the breasts and Increase in size
The breast is the first part of the body that changes during early pregnancy. These changes occur from as early as two weeks into the pregnancy. You begin to notice your breasts getting fuller, heavier, and more tender.
During this stage, you begin to feel tired, lazy and sleepy. This is because during pregnancy, the progesterone in your body is high and this can make you feel sleepy.
This symptom is also one of the most common signs of early pregnancy. You might spot some blood in your underwear for about 10 to 14 days before it stops.
You may feel nauseous and this might be accompanied by vomiting when you’re pregnant. Once you notice this symptom, you should go for a pregnancy test immediately.
5. Food cravings
During early pregnancy, you are likely to crave different types of food. This is common in the first trimester.
6. Constant Headaches
Headache is one of the early symptoms of pregnancy. This is as a result of an increase in blood circulation caused by hormonal changes.
Constipation is another common early symptom of pregnancy and this may cause any food you eat to take a long period to digest.
An increase in progesterone causes food to pass more slowly through the intestines, which can lead to constipation.
8. Mood swings
Mood swings are common in the first trimester. Your mood can go from being lively to sad all of a sudden.
9. Early morning sickness
This can be accompanied by tiredness, vomiting, dizziness. They are all signs of morning sickness.
This happens as a result of blood pressure. Once the blood vessels dilate and the blood pressure drops, you are likely to feel dizzy.
