The political war of attrition between Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu seems to have ended following a reconciliatory meeting held between the two politicians in Abuja.

Both parted ways before the 2012 governorship election in Ondo State.

Recall Tinubu supported another candidate in the party against Akeredolu who had the full backing of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sensing what the outcome of the suspension would be, Akeredolu, according to informed sources, quickly accelerated the reconciliation with Tinubu in order to return for second term.

Prior to the reconciliation there were plans by the NWC to ensure that the lawyer turned politician was denied the party’s ticket for second term for his alleged anti-party activities.

The peace meeting has thus cooled off the rumoured suspension of Akeredolu instituted by the National Working Committee of the ruling party for his infraction in the last general election which led to the woeful loss of the party in the state.

Further checks revealed that former APC national Vice Chairman, South West, Pius Akinyelure, was behind the reconciliatory move to bring them together and to douse the tension all in the interest of the party in the state.

Though details of the meeting are still kept under wraps, the two leaders have resolved to work together again in a bid not to lose the state to the opposition in the forthcoming governorship election.
