Experiencing vaginal dryness? Find out why and what you can do to stop it.
Vaginal dryness is a common problem among women, especially women who have hit menopause or are close to menopause.
It can cause itching, bleeding, serious pain during sexual intercourse and so on. The main reason for vaginal dryness is a reduction in estrogen. The estrogen level in women can drop due to medication, pregnancy, depression, stress, and menopause.
Estrogen plays an important role in our body. This hormone helps to keep the vagina lubricated and moist. If this hormone is absent, the linings of your vagina become thinner and difficult to expand, causing the vagina not to produce lubrication which will then result in vaginal dryness.
In order to avoid vaginal dryness, you can use:
1. Water-based lubricants
You can use a water-based lubricant. This will make the vaginal lining moist. Water-based lubricants can last for hours, making it a good solution to vaginal dryness.
2. Natural oil
For those who do not want to use water based lubricants, you can use some natural oils like coconut oil, olive, sweet almond, grape seed, and sunflower. They are natural oils that can be used as lubricants during sexual intercourse.
3. Avoid douching your vagina
Douching your vagina is not the best. This will only make the dryness worse. If you want to wash your vagina, use water or prepare a bowl of lukewarm water, add some disinfectant and sit on it for as long as you wish.
4. Have sexual intercourse regularly
Regular intercourse can promote lubrication naturally. So, try to have sexual intercourse constantly in order to avoid vaginal dryness.
