Emir Sanusi returns from Saudi Arabia amidst royal tussle.
The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on Sunday night, arrived at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport from his trip to the holy land of Saudi Arabia.
The highly revered northern monarch is returning to the country after Kano State Governor, Musa Umar Ganduje, created four emirate councils and appointed emirs to spite Mallam Sanusi.
Recall that the monarch was in Saudi Arabia during the creation of four emirate councils and appointments of the respective emirs for the new emirates.
In spite of the crises, the former CBN governor was given a historic welcome as top emirate council members, indigenes and Kano residents were all on ground to give him a befitting welcome.
He was later driven to his palace in a convoy while Kano residents greeted and honoured with songs and praises.
Among those in his convoy were prominent Kano indigenes and palace guards (Dogarai), who closely guarded the Emir.
The Emir of Kano fell out with the state governor when reports were rife that Mallam Sanusi preferred that the PDP governorship candidate, Abubakar, returned for second term rather than Ganduje.
Recall during the re-run election, Ganduje only won with a slim margin in an election marred with lots of irregularities.
