Drug trafficking: Zainab, Abubakar get N6million from Kano Governor.

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Wednesday, donated 6 million naira cash gift to the duo of Zainab Aliyu and Ibrahim Abubakar who were recently released from the Saudi Arabia narcotic authority.

The governor presented the cash gift to them when the security operatives officially handed over Zainab and Abubakar to the governor at the Kano Government House in Kano.

Ganduje, in his address, said that Aliyu who had gone for Lesser Haj with her mother was nabbed by the Saudi Arabia security men in December 2018 in a hotel in Medinah for possession of hard drugs.

He added that Ibrahim was also arrested for a similar case he knew nothing about.

Ganduje, after the presentation of the funds to the victims, further commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the timely intervention to save the two lives of the Kano Indigenes.

He also implored security men at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport to brace up their efforts in curbing the menace.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of Nigeria Diaspora Commission, led the the federal government officials to officially present the two Kano State indigenes to their state governor.

‎Abike said the two victims were vindicated after investigations confirmed that some drug cartel at the airport actually planted the drugs in the innocent travelers’s bags without their knowledge.

Also speaking, both Aliyu and Abubakar commended the Nigerian Government, Nigerian Consulate in Jeddah, Chairperson of Nigeria Diaspora Commission and Kano Government for their efforts.
