Many people avoid long distance relationships, because they fear that it might fail after putting in a lot of work. Some long distance relationships don't work out because of trust issues and other problems. But once you can identify these problems, it will be easy for you to tackle them. They include:
1. Lack of communication
A long-distance relationship needs adequate communication for the relationship to work. It is the only way to assure your partner that you still care. Don't forget that out of sight is out of mind. If your relationship lacks communication, it gives room for infidelity.
2. You don't see each other for years
Your job might be tasking, but you must find a way to see your partner no matter how difficult it may be. Phone communication is not enough to keep the relationship intact.
If it is not possible for you to come around, video call each other every other day. It is another way to clear your partner’s doubts and to draw your partner closer.
3. Lack of trust
This has always been a major problem in long distance relationships. If you are in a long distance relationship with someone you don't trust, no matter what such person does, you will never believe in him or her.
This might end up being a major problem in the relationship. So, before you get into a long distance relationship, make sure you are ready for it mentally and emotionally.
4. You listen to gossip
Another thing that can kill a long distance relationship is listening to gossip about your partner. Since you are not there to confirm what is going on, people would expect you to believe anything you are told.
5. You let people push you around
Don't let people push you around. Learn to make your own decisions. Don't act on what people say about your partner. For a long distance relationship to work, it requires a lot of sacrifices. Also, be mature about the decisions you make.
