President Muhammadu Buhari Sworn In For Second Term     

President Muhammadu Buhari has been sworn in for his second term in office as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have been sworn in for a second term in office by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, on Wednesday in Abuja.

The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate won the February 23 presidential elections.

Buhari polled 15,191,847 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, who had 11,262,978 votes.

Buhari was first inaugurated as President of Nigeria on May 29, 2015, after he defeated the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

The president and his vice were joined by their wives, Aisha Buhari and Dolapo Osinbajo, at the inauguration ceremony to support their husbands.

The ceremony was also attended by serving state governors.

Others in attendance were service chiefs, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the Federal Executive Council, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Head of Civil Service of the Federation and captains of industry.
