Eid-el-Fitri Celebration: Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, Provides Free Train

As part of the Eid-el-Fitri celebration, Osun State Governor, Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola, has made provisions for free train for Osun indigenes and others travelling from Lagos to the state for the Ramadan break.

Since his assumption of office, this is the third time the free train would be provided by the governor for his people.

Those travelling for Eid el Fitri, according to the statement made by the governor, are expected to leave the Iddo Terminus in Lagos on Monday June 3, stopping over in Abeokuta and Ibadan among other places, before arriving at the Nelson Mandela Train Park Station in Osogbo at an estimated arrival time of 6pm.

The train is expected to return to Lagos through Iddo Treminus in Lagos on Thursday, June 6.

It is expected to stop over in Oyo and Ogun States after taking off from the station in Osogbo.

On Thursday June 6, the train will make a return trip to Iddo Terminus in Lagos, stopping over in Oyo and Ogun states after taking off at 10am from the Nelson Mandela Train Park Station in Osogbo.

Bola oyebamji, the Supervisor for Finance, Commerce, Industries, Cooperatives, while describing the programme, said it is a way to provide relief to citizens of the state travelling home to celebrate with their loves ones.

Recall that the scheme was initiated by the ex-Governor Rauf Aregbesola in 2011.

Since then millions of people, including citizens of the neighbouring states, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Kwara and Ondo, have benefited from the free train programme during all religious celebrations
