Makinde hits back on Ajimobi, turns down appointment.
Seyi Makinde, the new Oyo State Governor on Friday, reversed the promotion of all the new permanent secretaries in the State Civil Service.
Abiola Ajimobi, the former governor, shortly before leaving office, promoted eight civil servants to the office of permanent secretary, a last minute move which Makinde had warned his predecessor to avoid ahead of his exit from office.
Dotun Oyelade, while announcing the reversal of the promotion at a meeting with the permanent secretaries, said it is paramount with his campaign promises, adding that the reversal will not be exceptional.
“The governor said that all transactions either contractually or in terms of appointments and promotions that were done especially between Monday, March 11 and May 28 would be given closer scrutiny particularly because of the obvious mischief that has been introduced into the whole governance within this period.
“So, just like he made good the promise to cancel the N3, 000 paid by parents of public secondary school children and open the Governor’s Office flyover for every citizen of Oyo State, in the same manner he is dealing with the issue of the appointment of the permanent secretaries and civil servants,” Oyelade said.
