The Federal High Court, Abuja, has fixed Friday, June 7, for the ruling on an application filed by the former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.

The Immediate past governor is challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission on its refusal to present him his Certificate of Return after claiming to have won a senate seat for the Imo West Senatorial District.

Justice Okon-Abang, who is in charge of the case, fixed the date on Monday after hearing the counsel to Okorocha, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, INEC lawyer and other respondents.

Okorocha had dragged the electoral umpire to court for denying him his victory.

He argued in the suit that the commission lacked the statutory powers to withhold his Certificate of Return, having validly elected to occupy the senatorial seat.

The former governor requested the court to order INEC to declare and recognise him as the duly elected winner of the election.

But INEC asked the court to dismiss the suit.
