Ayuba becomes Plateau State House Speaker at 33.
A 33-year-old final year student of the University of Jos, Abok Ayuba, on Monday emerged as Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
The final year law student was able to climb the success ladder through the passage of the “Not Too Young To Run” Bill which reduced the age limit for members of the State House of Assembly from 30 years to 25 years
With the latest development, North seems to be the only region that has accepted the bill compared to the south who are yet put it into use.
Ayuba, in his acceptance speech, thanked his colleagues for the support and promised not to fail them, adding that he would not discriminate against anyone on the basis of gender, tribe or political difference.
“As speaker of this noble assembly, I promise to serve with the fear of God, high sense of responsibility and humility,” he said.
