Koffi shades Wizkid and other Nigerian artistes at the just concluded Ras Kimono Memorial Day.
June 10 made it exactly one year of Ras Kimono’s departure from this world, and there was a celebration of the icon with a memorial lecture which held at the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) building situated in Ikeja, Lagos. June 10 has now been set aside as a day to celebrate the icon.
Popular Nigerian Comedian, Koffi Idowu Neil, known to many as Koffi the guru, served as the Master of Ceremony. In his opening speech, he eulogised the late Ras Kimono who faced challenges in his chosen career path but remained undeterred as he continued to use his music to consciously speak against the ills of society. According to Koffi, Ras Kimono dressed decently and never used naked or half unclad girls for his videos but his messages were always understood.
Koffi went ahead to insult what is currently obtainable in the music industry, he frowned at Wizkid and his colleagues for singing songs that have no messages but are strictly for dance and entertainment. He even went ahead to shade a particular elderly musician who is trying hard to make a comeback into the music industry but hasn't even scratched the surface. The shade might have been directed at Majek Fashek who is currently trying relentlessly to put out a song after so long.
He further advised that anyone interested in doing music must be ready for controversy in the industry otherwise that person would be stale and irrelevant. This he directed to the daughter of Ras Kimono
