A 13-year-old Fulani boy, Suleiman Usman, was killed by two suspected Yoruba thugs in Isua Akoko community, Ondo State.

A close source briefed the media thus:

"The people of Isua Akoko community were almost headlocked for an ethnic clash, when news of the alleged murder of Suleiman Usman broke out.

"The young Fulani boy was lured out of his residence in the afternoon by two thugs identified as Alagbara Dele and Oluwatunmise Gbara. The boy's parents were not at home when the thugs visited and carted the boy away on a motorcycle."

The parents decided to raise an alarm when their son did not return. A search party was organised by the community, and a few hours later, the boy's lifeless body was found floating in a river nearby.

Officers of the police command in that community were swift in action, as they apprehended the two suspects who carted the boy away on a motorcycle. They were identified by a witness and family friend who spotted them when they visited the late Suleiman earlier.

The Special Adviser to the State Governor in Fulani/Hausa matters, Alhaji Bala Umar, intervened when news of some Fulanis mobilizing themselves to avenge the death of one of their own broke out.

The Fulanis wanted to attack the host community but Alhaji Bala immediately recruited security personnel to quench the tension arising while he pleaded with the aggrieved community not to take matters into their own hands, assuring them the criminals have already been caught and would be brought to justice.
