I will dedicate my four years to Nigerians - Gbajabiamila.
Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in his first interview after inauguration said he would use his new office to the benefit of Nigerians.
Gbajabiamila made this declaration on Saturday during his visit to Oba Rilwan of Lagos at his Iduganran, Lagos Island palace.
He was accompanied to the palace by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and some of his colleagues from the house, including James Faleke, Jide Jimoh, Jimi Johnson, among others.
The Speaker, while addressing the monarch, said he would use his good office to impact the generality of Nigerians.
“I am going to use my office to the benefit of all Nigerians. It is going to be four years of hard work, commitment to the rule of law, four years of dedication to the people of Nigeria.
“There were a lot of problems in Nigeria and it takes visionary leadership to address these problems.
Gbajabiamila said he was aware of some of the requests of Lagos from the Federal Government, promising that he and his colleagues would do their best to attend to them.
Oba Akiolu,, in his speech, appreciated the Speaker for finding time to visit him, urging him to use his office to respond to some of his requests.
Highlighting his request, the royal father said there were several properties belonging to the state government that were seized during the military government.
He, however, appealed to the Honourable to work on the release of the properties to be useful to the state.
“We have a catalogue of requests from the Federal Government, we want good transportation system and all the state properties taken away by military fiat we want them returned to us.
“We want all these things back for the improvement of the lives of our people,”Akiolu stated.
