Alan Shearer Blasts Newcastle For Letting Benitez Leave

Former Newcastle striker has poured his raw opinions on his official Twitter handle with regards to the departure of the Magpies boss, Rafael Benitez.

The former striker of the club labelled the decision as "shambles" after Mike Ashley, owner of Newcastle, failed to reach a new contract term with Rafa Benitez whose current contract expires by June 30, 2019. This means he would no longer be with the club next season. Newcastle will not be in the market for a new coach and not everyone likes that development.

Shearer has expressed his huge disappointment that his club with whom he shared his glory days cannot retain a manager who has given them mid-table finish twice after they were relegated in 2016. Benitez took charge of Newcastle in 2017 and the two seasons he coached them, he was given little transfer kitty and low quality of players in his Arsenal yet he managed to guide them to mid-table finish twice.

Rafael Benitez is arguably among the 'world class' coaches. He led the golden generation of Valencia, bringing out the likes of David Silva and David Villa. Also, he orchestrated the miracle in Istanbul as he guided Liverpool to a UEFA champions league glory. He also had a short stint with Spanish giants, Real Madrid.

Alan shearer’s claims are not far-fetched if you look closely at Benitez’s resume. Meanwhile, below is his comment on his official Twitter handle:
