A shopping complex allegedly owned by the sister to former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, was raided on Thursday night by armed youths and policemen.
The shopping complex, House of Freda, was said to be raided under the supervision of the Chairman of Imo State Committee on Recovery of Government Property, Hon. Jasper Ndubuaku.
Officials of the committee along with some youths as well as policemen reportedly raided the complex, taking away with them some properties belonging to the state government.
According to an employee at the complex, the building houses many businesses from people that are not affiliated with Okorocha and most of the merchandise carted away were electronic gadgets belonging to businessmen and individuals not the Rochas family.
The Media Adviser to the Imo State Governor, Steven Osuji, credited the actions of the committee to a tip off from a whistle-blower who informed them that government vehicles and properties were being hoarded and sold in the complex.
He also explained that the officials of the committee were not granted access to the complex by armed thugs hired by the owners of the complex and the situation escalated.
