Did Biodun Fatoyinbo Succumb To Pressure To Step Down After Losing Church Members? (Opinion)

While most people think Biodun Fatoyinbo did the right thing by stepping down after the rape allegations made against him, many have questioned his motive for stepping down.

Some have suggested that the pastor stepped down from his position as the head of the church only after losing church members and not out of guilt or remorse.

Although the pastor maintains that he decided to step down after taking “time to pray and seek spiritual counsel from Christian leaders around the world”, the fact that some staunch COZA supporters have abandoned the church could have influenced his decision.

Recall that when the pleas of actor, producer, and Vlogger, Akah Nnani, for the pastor to step down fell on deaf ears, he publicly dissociated himself from the church.

Now, after much pressure from church members and elders, the pastor has finally decided to relinquish his position as the man in charge of the altar till the rape case between himself and Busola Dakolo dies down.

Biodun Fatoyinbo might have assumed that the case would go away like that of Ese Walter when she called him out in 2013. He, therefore, ignored the pleas and went ahead to preach on Sunday at his church in Abuja. When the backlash continued, he decided to cancel their scheduled “7 Days of Glory” under the auspices of the Holy Spirit, which he claimed instructed him to cancel. He explained that the reason for the cancellation was because he did not want international ministers to be embarrassed by the public.

He further explained that he would continue to pray about the accusations made by Busola Dakolo and other church members.
