Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr says he is focused on his team’s Round of 16 clash against Cameroon despite looming sack rumors.

The German has faced intense criticism following Super Eagles’ less than impressive outings in Egypt, especially in their disgraceful 2-0 loss to Madagascar.

Get it Rohr's contract with the Nigerian Football Federation ends in 2020 but there are whispers he could be fired before then.

The 65-year-old is however not letting the pressure get to him and remains focused on his side's knockout clash against Cameroon.

“I heard that from someone and I saw on social media that even if I win Afcon with my team, it will be finished for me,” Rohr said during Friday’s pre-match conference.

“We are focused on this game [against Cameroon] and we want to win it. It is a challenge for all of us, not only for the staff or me.

“I hope we do well here and we are ready, after the tournament we will talk about my future.”

The game on Saturday against the Indomitable will be the seventh time both sides are meeting in the history of the competition. There's been two wins for each team and two draws.

But Nigeria have had the edge in the most recent meetings between them, winning 2-1 at the 2004 Nations Cup in Tunisia and 4-0 win during the World Cup qualifiers before a 1-1 draw in Yaounde in 2017.
