The Peoples Democratic Party, on Friday, said that the people of Osun State, by the votes cast at the September 2018 governorship election, preferred Senator Adeleke as their governor.
The party said, in a statement released by its spokesman, Kola Ologbodiyan, that the "fact that the Supreme Court had a split judgment also speaks volumes on its verdict in this matter."
PDP is reacting to the split decision of the apex court which confirmed Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the poll.
Five out of the seven-man panel dismissed the appeal of PDP and its candidate, Ademola Adeleke, while two members of the panel kicked against the judgement.
PDP acknowledged "the ruling of the Supreme Court on the contentious Osun State Governorship election."
The party further said its study revealed that the judgment shows that the Supreme Court "based its verdict on reservations over issues of technicalities arising at the election petition tribunal."
The Independent National Electoral Commission, in September 2018, declared Oyetola winner of the Osun governorship poll after a rerun.
INEC said Oyetola polled 255,505 votes while the PDP candidate scored 255,023 votes. Adeleke led the APC candidate with 353 votes after polling 254,698 to 254,345 at the end of the first round of the election on September 22.
