Super Eagles of Nigeria came out tops in the entertaining round of 16 match at the ongoing African Cup of Nations against Cameroon.

Both West African teams treated fans to a mouthwatering encounter that saw them score five goals against each other.

Odion Ighalo opened the scoring for Nigeria when his side-footed shot in the box deflected off a Cameroon defender and crept into the bottom corner.

The Cameroonians responded well and started piling up the pressure on the Nigerian defense and were rewarded for their good work late in the first half.

Two goals in three minutes for Stephane Bahoken and Clinton Njie turned the game on its head as Nigeria's defensive frailties were exploited by the very physical Cameroon attack.

Bahoken had equalized for the Lions on 41 minutes when he tapped in a Bassogog when he was left unmarked in the box.

Three minutes later, the Cameroonians were in the lead after Marseille forward Clinton Njie finished expertly after receiving a flick on from Bahoken.

In the second half, the Cameroonians started like they finished off the first and could have extended their lead if not for Daniel Akpeyi who denied Njie a second goal.

That miss proved to be a costly one with Nigeria going on to score twice in three minutes to send Clarence Seedorf's men home from the competition.

Odion Ighalo slammed in his second of the game when Ahmed Musa's chested dropdown fell kindly for him. Ighalo turned provider moments later when his cheeky pass after good hold up play found Iwobi who finished nicely.

Nigeria will now play the winner from the game between hosts, Egypt and South Africa.
