Samuel Chukwueze was filled with excitement after he was named Man of the Match in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over South Africa on Wednesday.

Although it was Troost-Ekong who scored Nigeria's winner, it was the 20-year-old's trickery, pace, and creativity that caught the eyes all game long.

The Villareal forward became the youngest goalscorer at the ongoing AFCON when he opened the scoring for the Super Eagles in the first half.

But aside his goal, the former Golden Eaglets star put up a good showing as he caused a lot of problems for the South African defense.

“I feel so happy to be named Man-of-the-match because it has not been easy for me and the team. I have been working so hard,” Chukwueze told the media after the game.

“We pushed very hard to win the game because it wasn’t easy, but we thank God we won.

“This is my first international outing with the Super Eagles as well as my first senior goal. It is a dream come true for me. This makes me feel so happy and don’t know how to express it.”

Chukwueze came off the bench against Cameroon before getting the nod ahead of Moses Simon on Wednesday but the Abia state native is aware of the quality at Gernot Rohr's disposal and would give his best whenever the coach calls on him.

“It depends on what the coach wants and how he wants to play. Besides, all players are equal,” he continued.

“It was my turn today to start and I had to do my job. It may be the turn of another person to start the next game.”

The Super Eagles will play the Foxes of Algeria on Sunday after they defeated Ivory Coast on penalties in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
