Manchester United have agreed a world record £80m fee with Leicester City for the signing of defender, Harry Maguire.

According to Sky Sports, the 26-year-old England international is set to travel to Manchester for a medical and negotiations of personal terms with the club.

Sky Sports News reporter Rob Dorsett when speaking to The Transfer Show on Thursday said: "I've always been told throughout this process that £80m was the magic figure for Leicester to do business. It seems as though United are prepared to go there, so this could happen quite quickly."

United have been linked with centre back since he impressed at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made him his prime transfer target once again this summer.

They have had to enter a bidding war with crosstown rivals Manchester City for his signature.

Brighton's £45M rated defender, Lewis Dunk and Burnley's James Tarkowski are being tipped to replace the Englishman if he makes the switch to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's rebuilding.

If the deal goes through, it will eclipse the £75M fee Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk 18 months ago as the most ever spent on a defender.
