Women usually have digestive difficulties, including diarrhea and constipation, during pregnancy. This is normal due to stress, diet, and hormonal problems.

Pregnant women who experience bowel movements three or more times in a day should be cautious of what they eat.

Likely causes of diarrhea include:

1. Change in diet

Some woman change their diet once they become pregnant. They pick interest in a particular food they did not eat before pregnancy. This change in diet can have a negative effect on their bowel and this can eventually result in diarrhea.

3. Changes in the hormonal system

This may make your digestive system slow and can result in constant constipation. The hormones can also speed up the digestive system, which may also result in diarrhea.

4. Give it some time

Diarrhea during pregnancy usually clears up after a few days on its own. Most of the cases of diarrhea might be bacteria, bug, food poisoning or virus.

5. Stay hydrated

Make sure you drink enough water to regain your energy because you are losing fluid. It is not advisable to be dehydrated because of your baby.

6. Watch what you eat

Avoid food that will cause more harm to you - food like beans, spicy food, food that contains fat milk and so on.

7. Avoid self-medication
