The Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola, has hit back at the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, saying he felt ridiculed to have contested with a mere dancer during the 2018 governorship poll in the state.

Oyetola made the assertion on Wednesday when he played host to the leadership of the Social Democratic Party led by Prof. Yemi Farounbi at the Osun State house in Osogbo.

The governor, while addressing his visitors, noted that people like Adeleke should have been screened out of the race, stressing that the country’s electoral system lacks control for giving such person an opportunity to contest against him.

“The country’s electoral system is weak, especially regarding the screening of candidates which gave room for somebody like Ademola Adeleke to contest for governorship seat of the state.”

“Sometimes when I sit down and realise that I was actually contesting with Adeleke, who is best at dancing, I felt ridiculed, very ridiculed.

“It would have been a tragedy for our state if the whole thing had turned the other way round.

Recall, Adeleke became the new bride for PDP for the governorship seat after the death of his elder brother, Isiaka Adeleke, popularly known as Serubawon.

He became more in the public space when his dancing videos went viral on social media.
