President Muhammadu Buhari has officially sworn in Tanko Muhammad as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, swore in Justice Tanko Muhammad as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The formal swearing ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Tanko’s appointment became substantive after the approval of the National Assembly during the last plenary session, which was held on Wednesday.
The Fulani born Justice took over earlier this year from the immediate past Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onoghen, who was suspended from office over alleged financial misconduct.
The president had on July 11, 2019, sent Tanko’s name to the Senate for approval as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.
