As a young girl growing up in Nigeria, it was a culture to make a new hairstyle every weekend the same way the boys were always asked to cut their hair neatly in preparation for a new school week. The hairstyle, of course, was usually announced on the school assembly and every girl had to plait the same uniform hairstyle given or risk being punished the following week.

I am not so sure this culture is still in practice in schools today but I am sure that this post will definitely bring back lovely memories of our school days. Enjoy!

1. Shuku

This was a popular schoolgirl hairstyle back in the days. Just like the other hairstyles, it was plaited with the natural hair and was a delight for girls with naturally long hair, as it brought out one's beauty.
