Arsenal have signed Ivorian forward, Nicolas Pepe from French side in a £72 million ($87m) deal.

The 24-year-old becomes the fourth signing for the Gunners this summer, smashing the club's all-time transfer record previously set by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s £56m ($68m) arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2018.

The winger who was first pictured in London on Tuesday morning when he met his new Arsenal team-mates after undergoing his medical.

"Nicolas is a highly-rated and talented winger who was wanted by many of the top teams in Europe," Arsenal boss Unai Emery said about his newest addition.

"Signing a top-class winger has been one of our key objectives in this transfer window and I'm delighted he's joining.

"He will add pace, power, and creativity, with the aim of bringing more goals to our team."

Arsenal were initially interested in bringing Pepe's national team-mate Wilfred Zaha from Crystal Palace but the South London club rejected their £40m ($49m) offer, placing an £80m ($97m) on their man.

Reports are that Arsenal who fought off competition from Napoli from the player will pay an initial part-payment of £20m ($24m) upfront before paying off the remainder of the £72m price tag over the five-years of Pepe’s contract.
