Pandemonium hit Osogbo, the Osun State capital, when an unidentified middle-aged man jumped into Osun River in Gbodofon area of the state on Thursday.

A resident, who witnessed the suicide mission, informed other indigenes before heading towards the river for his rescue.

The firemen from the state’s fire service later arrived the scene to double the lifesaving efforts of the eyewitness.

But as at the time of filing this report, neither the man nor his remains had been found.

The rescue mission attracted many, including okoda riders and motorists who gathered at the bank of the river to have a glimpse of the man.

Taiye Olaore, in his account, said the man might have resorted to suicide for a reason best known to him.
