The Federal Government, on Friday, postponed the partial closure of portions of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway till September 2, 2019.

The closure was expected to have commenced today, Saturday, August 3, 2019, to pave way for Julius Berger to work on a stretch of 1.4km road between Kara Market and Berger terminal bus stop, Lagos.

Adedamola Kuti, the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, while addressing the media, noted that the decision of the postponement was to enable free flow of traffic during the Salah period and show Nigerians more sensitivity.

“The government and the contractor have now reviewed the work plan. The reconstruction of this stretch of the road will now commence on September 2,” he said.

Many, especially motorists, had earlier expressed displeasure over the purported closure of the road during the Salah celebration and the annual convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
