The Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, through his Special Assistant, Mr Akwarandu, recently announced that he would give full academic scholarship to the top two candidates to study in any university of their choice.
It was published earlier that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) had officially released the 2019 WAEC results and two candidates scored A1 parallel in all the subjects they offered. The students, Stephany Chizobam Ugboaja [Female] and Favour Alozie [Male], have now been given a reward of full scholarship by the governor.
"The plan of Ihedioha’s government is to ensure that we give the best to our state and reward excellence and hard work.
“We believe Stephany and Favour’s recognition by the governor would serve as morale booster to Imo students and will spur them to higher heights of achievement in years to come,” Akwarandu said.
Akwarandu also explained that the gesture of sponsoring these students into any university of their choice is the governor's way of celebrating excellence and hard work and to encourage the leaders of tomorrow to strive for academic excellence.
