Caring for your newborn can be tasking, as we all know that newborn babies hardly sleep during the day. That is why it is best to set a good sleep pattern for your baby by following these guidelines.
1. Recognise your baby’s every sign
Sometimes, mothers misunderstand the sign their baby makes. As a mother, you should know when your baby is hungry, tired or sleepy.
When your baby is tired or sleepy, she is likely to use her hands to rub her eyes or look away each time you look at her or yawn.
2. Help your baby learn the morning-night distinction
Train your baby to know the difference between morning and night, as this will help you a lot. You can play with your baby during the day, let your baby know that she can play during the day and sleep at night.
Reduce the number of times you play with your baby at night to the barest minimum. If possible, feed your baby in a semi-dark room to create the night atmosphere. With time, your baby will learn to play during the day and sleep at night.
3. Don't feed your baby while sleeping
Some mothers are used to feeding their babies when sleeping. This is wrong. Whenever you are breastfeeding your baby, and she falls asleep, just let her sleep
Don't force the baby to eat by putting a feeding bottle in her mouth. This can lead to an ear infection or the baby can choke on the bottle.
