Barely four days ago, Rev. Father Paul Offu, a parish priest in Enugu, was killed by alleged herdsmen and his driver abducted. Now, a zonal pastor of the Living Faith Church AKA Winners Chapel, in Romi New Extension, Kaduna State, identified as Jeremiah Omolara, has been killed by unknown gunmen during a road trip.
According to reports, the incident occurred along the Kaduna-Abuja road known for its dreadful crime activities, including kidnapping and robbery. The pastor, his wife and their son were travelling to Abuja, when unknown gunmen ambushed them and opened fire on their vehicle, killing the pastor on the spot and taking his wife to the bush. The son was said to have escaped the scene unhurt.
On Monday, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna Chapter, Rev. Joseph Hayab, confirmed the unfortunate incident while lamenting the increasing rate of kidnapping and killing of pastors in Nigeria, especially Kaduna State.
“The killing of the pastor and the abduction of his wife is sad and devastating,” Hayab told newsmen.
He further narrated to the newsmen how the parish priest of Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State, was attacked by gunmen in his home and his security guard was killed in the raid last week.
