The immediate past lawmaker representing Ogun East senatorial district at the National Assembly and the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Senator Buruji Kashamu, has cancelled his annual Ileya party which he had earlier scheduled to hold on Monday, August 12.
The new development is a mark of respect for the memory of his late mother, Alhaja Wulemotu Kashamu, who died on Wednesday ahead of the proposed Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State.
Wulemotu, 96, died in a hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos, after a brief illness.
Her remains have been buried on Thursday, August 8, 2019, in Ijebu Igbo, according to Islamic rites.
Until her death, the late Alhaja Kashamu was a prominent businesswoman, community and religious leader.
Senator Kashamu is the second son and third child of the late Alhaja Kashamu.
