Rivers State Police Kill Notorious Kidnapper, Abacha, In A Shootout

The Rivers State Police Command has announced the death of the notorious armed robber and kidnapper, known as Abacha, leader of an armed robbery gang terrorizing the East-West road area.

The kidnap kingpin was killed during a gun battle between his gang and the police in Rumuakunde in the Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Nnamdi Omoni, explained in a short interview with newsmen in Rivers State that a combination of Operation Sting officers from Rumuji police station and a vigilante group in the community teamed up to carry out the major operation that led to the death of the notorious robber.

"The security team stormed a kidnappers’ camp at Rumuakunde, Emohua Local Government Area, where a gang terrorizing the East-West Road was hibernating.

“Abacha was shot during a duel with security personnel as the other hoodlums tried to escape arrest,’’ he stated.

Omoni also disclosed that the operation was carried out on the said Wednesday and the police successfully recovered arms and ammunition belonging to the gang while other members of the gang escaped with injuries during the shootout.
