NAF Neutralizes Boko Haram Insurgents In Borno State

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced that the Air Task Force (ATF), under Operation LAFIYA DOLE, has raided the hideout of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State, where a large number of the insurgents were captured.

NAF's Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, made the announcement in a statement released to the media on Monday. He disclosed that the major breakthrough in the battle against insurgency which has lasted over a decade was made after the task force raided the hideout in Izza, a small village near the outskirts of Sambisa forest in Borno.

“Consequently, the ATF scrambled three Alpha Jet aircraft to attack the location, with the timing synchronized to inflict maximum damage and mortality on the terrorists.

“As a result, there was massive devastation on the affected target while scores of terrorists were killed in the process,” Daramola said.

He further explained that after a series of underground investigations by the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), they established that the hideout was used as a staging area by the insurgents to launch their attacks on the Nigerian army and neighbouring villages.

Noting that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) would work together with military troops to improve all efforts to fight insurgency, Daramola vowed that there would be a complete eradication of the North-East of the famed religious terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
