Read how Tonye Cole lost his ministerial slot to Amaechi.
Fresh facts have just revealed how Rotimi Amaechi denied Tonye Cole, the co-founder of Sahara Group, from becoming a minister.
A dependable source confirmed to us that Cole’s name was on the list of the ministerial nominees until the last minute before submission to the senate for screening.
President Muhammadu Buhari had planned to compensate Tonye Cole with a federal appointment, being an APC gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State after he was denied the opportunity to take part in the election by the Independent Electoral Commission.
But the former governor, who was also desirous of returning as minister to represent Rivers State, blocked Cole from taking over his appointment.
Further checks confirmed that aides close to the president, who did not want Amaechi to return as minister, worked against him by replacing him with Cole. But Buhari saved him last minute before forwarding the list to the senate.
