Some Fulani herdsmen killed a bandit near Kango village in Dansadau, Maru Local Government Area (LGA), and took his AK47 to the government house, Gusau, Zamfara State.
Alhaji Abubakar Dauran, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bello Mutawalle, narrated the incident to newsmen.
"The deceased bandit was killed by the herdsmen when he blocked the road leading to Dansadau town in an attempt to rob people.
"Immediately the information reached the herdsmen that a fellow Fulani brother was on the road, trying to rob passersby, they quickly mobilized to the spot where they engaged in a shooting spree and killed the bandit.
"They killed him instantly and brought his AK 47 to us here at the Government House, an indication that the peace process is really working," Dauran said.
This is a new turn of events following a peace pact between Governor Bello Mutawalle and the herdsmen. The Governor also hosted the herdsmen in the Sharo Festival which held for the first time in 10 years.
According to reports, the murdered Fulani bandit might not be from the state because there has been no case of kidnapping or killing in Zamfara since the peace treaty was initiated by the governor, .
