A young woman was discovered dead in a hotel room in Amukpe community, in the Sapele Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State.
According to reports, the woman whose identity is unknown was found dead three days after she was allegedly gang raped by some men.
The three men, reports suggest, had brought her to the hotel and booked for a room for three days. Her corpse was found under the bed in a hotel room, where it was hidden and had decomposed.
The offensive odour emanating from the room attracted the hotel management, who eventually called in the police. It was then discovered that the men who checked her into the hotel room hid her remains under the bed before checking out of the hotel.
The police helped in evacuating the body of the deceased and her corpse was deposited in a morgue. The hotel was shut down till further notice and investigations began.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Adeyinka Adeleke, confirmed the news to newsmen saying, “It is true that a woman died in a hotel in Sapele. I don’t know what killed her and how she died.”
Contrary to speculations that she was gang raped and left to die, the police have said they are not aware of what led to her death and investigations are ongoing.
