The Police Public Relations Officer, Imo State Police Command, Orlando Ikeokwu, has confirmed the abduction of the wife of an Anglican Bishop, identified as Mrs. Anuri Maduwuike. He noted that her abductors were yet to establish contact with her family, to arrange a ransom.

The unknown gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, kidnapped the wife of the Bishop of Ikeduru Diocese, Emmanuel Maduwuike, on her way to Owerri in Imo State on Thursday night. She was reportedly taken along Ekemele road by the gunmen to an unknown destination.

The South-East region of Nigeria has been raging with crimes, from the kidnap and killing of Rev. Fr Offu in Enugu to the rape and killing of a 67-year-old woman identified as Regina Mba, also in Enugu, by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
