The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has eventually won the royal tussle in Ibadanland orchestrated by former governor Abiola Ajimobi.

There was excitement in the Ibadan royal council on Monday when the controversially elevated 21 kings prostrated before Oba Saliu Adetunji during the celebration of his 91st birthday.

The new development has restored peace in the land after the tenure of the immediate past governor of the state who created several problems in the council.

Another leading chief who paid homage to and reconciled with the Olubadan was the Otun Olubadan, High Chief Lekan Balogun.

The controversial kings, including Baales in Ibadan, after staying away for two years all stormed the palace and openly prostrated before Olubadan without their crowns.

Those who came to the palace included Balogun, Owolabi Olakulehin, Osi Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola, Asipa Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole, Ekarun Olubadan, Amidu Ajibade, Ekarun Balogun, and Kola Adegbola.

Other chiefs who attended the celebration included the Iyalode of Ibadanland, High Chief Theresa Oyekanmi, Agbaakin Olubadan, Senior Chief Lekan Alabi, as well as Mogajis and Baales from all the 11 local government councils in Ibadanland.

Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, Ajibade, congratulated Oba Adetunji, saying Olubadan had made history for the entire Ibadanland himself.

He disclosed that Ibadan had been under the leadership of Olubadan, adding that he was his high chief and he was so proud to be working with him.

Olubadan, in his remarks, thanked the high chiefs for their magnanimity to restore peace in Ibadanland and he invited them to the promotion exercise of chiefs in Iyalode line, which is expected to start on Friday.
