Top 5 Natural Exfoliating Scrubs For Oily Skin

Margaret Solace

Exfoliating or scrubbing is removing dead skin cells from the body for new ones to come out for a glowing and bright skin. The skin rejuvenates every 28 days; hence the need to exfoliate often to remove the dead cells. A buildup of dead cells can cause pigmentation, damage, acne and a dull skin. It also removes excess oil from clogged pores.

In the case of an oily face, it’s important to exfoliate at least two times in a week because the sebum production in oily skin is higher than other skin types. Oily skin is prone to acne, pimples and other facial damages. Exfoliating helps remove this oil and the dead cells. There are several exfoliating scrubs in the market but you can always use the things in your kitchen and still get the same results.

• Oatmeal scrub

Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties. Honey moisturizes the face while yoghurt helps control sebum production on the face. You will need 1 tablespoon of oatmeal, yoghurt and honey. Mix and apply on the face for 5-10 minutes. You can opt for rosewater if you are sensitive to yoghurt and this can be used twice in a week.

• Tomato scrub

This has natural astringent properties and it cleanses the skin and tightens the pores. You will need 1 tomato and 2 table spoons of sugar. Remove the skin of the tomato before mashing and mixing them together. Apply in a circular movement for 5 minutes. It can be used twice in a week.

• Coffee scrub

Coffee is known as the blood circulator. It helps to circulate blood on the face. You will need 1 table spoon of coffee and yoghurt. Mix and apply on the face for 5 minutes. You can use once or twice in a week.

• Cucumber scrub

This gives an instant glow to the face and shrinks open pores because of its astringent properties. You will need just cucumber to make this scrub. Peel and grate and apply on your face for 2 minutes. Rinse with cold water.

• Sugar scrub

This is the holy grail of scrubs. It removes dead cells and excess oil from the skin. You will need 1 table spoon of sugar and honey. Leave for 3 minutes and wash off with warm water. You can use two times in a week.
