The younger sister to the wife of Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
According to reports, Elizabeth, the immediate younger sister to Dame Edith, was allegedly abducted by a gang of young men at Temple Clinic junction, along Awai road near Government House on Monday night in Asaba.
She was driving in a black SUV when the gang that was armed with dangerous weapons during the operation abducted her and took her away in a waiting vehicle.
“They shot endlessly into the air to scare away people. Out of fear, the lady, who was ordered out of her vehicle, jumped into their waiting vehicle,” a report by Punchng source at the Government House in Asaba, who declined to be named, said.
The source further disclosed that the incident has since thrown the governor, wife and her entire family into trauma.
Delta State Police Command, Commissioner, Adeyinka Adeleke claimed not to be aware of such incident but it is believed that the matter was not placed on red alert for security reason while intelligence gathering had since commenced to rescue her unhurt.
No contact has been made so far with the family or any personality in government.
