Weeks after a Nigerian Insurance top shot, Obianuju Ndubuisi-Chukwu, was murdered in South Africa, another Nigerian has been killed in the former apartheid enclave.

The latest death has raised the number of Nigerians killed in Xenophobic attacks to 200 in the last six years.

Chinonso Obiaju, 17, a Nigerian still in high school, was shot dead in Johannesburg days back and no arrest has been made.

Narrating the ordeal, the President of the Nigerian Union in South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, said the deceased student lived in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, with his guardian.

He said the innocent lad was shot around 6.30 pm

“He went to buy from a shop with his friend and someone chased and opened fire on them, killing him,’’ he quoted the guardian as saying.

He added that the family would be burying him in South Africa, noting that the union’s leaders in Johannesburg would be contacting him on developments.
